Open Door Outreach volunteers (Little Rock area)

The woodland trails and waterways will be lined with beautiful outdoor lights, while throughout the park there will be food, music, crafts, and performing arts to celebrate world cultures, fantasy lands, and our own wonderful city. The evening of entertainment preserves 105 acres of green space. Come enjoy volunteering at this great event!

We’ll be preparing breakfast for 35 guests staying at Ronald McDonald House while their children are in critical care at the hospital. We need 10 volunteers; RMH allows a “safe maximum” of 10 in the kitchen, and we could use all 10 in order to have 35 breakfasts prepared in only 1 hour. If you can definitely be there on Saturday, please text your phone # to Dee Dee at 501-256-2233. Dee Dee will quickly call & text you to confirm, and will send a reminder text the night before. We could also use people willing to be backups if there are last-minute cancellations or No Shows (which are frequent).

If you’d like to help reimburse Dee Dee for the breakfast food cost (suggested donation $5), you can send $ by Zelle or Venmo. The account # for both is Doris Moore, GreatWebsiteDeal@gmail.com (Venmo's additional identification is @greatwebsitedeal but isn't needed). There will also be a container in the kitchen that morning for (optional) contributions, or you can catch Dee Dee at another event.

This is an especially "Fun & Feel Good" volunteer opportunity so consider being a part of it!

Note: some ODO volunteers expected to arrive 9:30 am or a bit later due to a partial conflict with ODO's breakfast preparation at Ronald McDonald House. This activity is on the 3rd Saturday of every other month, and is a cooperative effort with Keep Little Rock Beautiful. We'll pick up litter for up to 1 mile on both sides of the adopted street highway, but we don't usually cover the whole mile in one cleanup. If you have them, bring a litter grabber and gloves (a limited number will be available if you don't have any). Safety vests, trash bags, breakfast snacks, and water to refill your reusable bottle will all be provided. Because it's along a busy street, volunteers age 16+ are recommended. If you would like to show up later, please find the blue tent at the Thrasher Boys & Girls Club, 3301 S. State St to sign in, then drive to any Arch Street dirt/gravel parking location close to any group of volunteers.
