OpenHack Victoria

Come out. Hang. Sling code. It'll be fun. :)

We’ll begin with introductions at 6:15. Just say who you are, what you do and where you do it (if you want to), what languages/frameworks you work with, and anything else you want to share. This is just to let everybody get to know each other and see who does what so others can help/pair with them, or ask for help if you know something they don’t.

Next is the hack session. This is what OpenHack is all about - slingin’ code. You can pair up with somebody or work totally alone - it’s totally up to you.

You can hack on anything you want. Open source, closed source. Work. Play. Any skill level on anything on any project, it’s all good as long as you’re here to sling code.

NOTE: BRING A COMPUTER! It's hard to hack on much of anything on your phone.

Does anyone have experience using an API that makes phone calls or sends SMS messages?

I had a buddy who was YELLING horoscopes on Skype the other day and it sounded hilarious, so I thought tonight I'd try building "The Angrologist" who would phone you and yell your horoscope at you (think cat facts).

It was good to meet everyone! I got a barebones start on this project tonight so I thought I'd drop some info here in case anyone wanted to see/contribute/laugh.

Easiest way I know how to keep track of something like this is Trello, so you'll find all info here:

Feel free to add anything, or if you'd rather drop me a line personally I'm always online, just let me know what medium works best for you (hint: Skype is best) [masked]

Whoa, looks like fun! Now I'm regretting missing the OpenHack tonight. Let me know if I can help in anyway - anyone can add me on Skype as troy_mcginnis ([masked])!

In town from Seattle through July, looking forward to meeting some Victoria developers. Been working on a Django web development contract lately.
