Join us on September 21st for the National Day of Civic Hacking - a nation-wide Code for America Brigade Network Day of Action. With this year's focus on Civic Action for Justice, brigades acorss the country are focusing their efforts to help some of the 77 million people in the United States impacted directly by the criminal justice system. We're looking forward to making a positive impact through collective action with the rest of the Brigade Network.

By participating in Oakland's National Day of Civic Hacking, you will be able to:

- Review and score the usability of various online services related to record clearance using a standard set of usability questions provided by Code for America.

- Design and create a user-friendly “know your rights” guide, focused on a set of 5 rights provided by Code for America.

1PM: Welcome! Why we are here and what we'll be working on today
1:30 - 2:00PM: Speaker series
2:00 - 4:30PM: Groups work on usability scorecard and rights guide
4:30PM: Wrap up, share learnings with the group

This event is free to attend and open to the public - People with and without web technology skills are invitied to participate and make an impact. We're hosting this space where advocates, allies, developers, and designers, can join forces to address important community needs that impact all Oakland residents.

Code for America's Brigade Network is hosting events all over the nation on September 21st. If you're unable to attend any of those events, you can still support the ongoing efforts that Code for America and the Network are doing in the criminal justice space.
