Title:
Herding Cats: How To Effectively Corral Metrics In A Multi-Tenant Cloud

Abstract:
A big question in the OpenStack community today is “How should I monitor my OpenStack environment?” Effectively tracking the resource bounds of disparate domains, and extrapolating these back to user-scoped applications and services is not easy. But when done right, clever multi-tenant monitoring can help you improve the availability and performance of your entire deployment. In this talk, we'd like to share some of our approaches to monitoring OpenStack in a dynamic, multi-tenant environment. We'll give a brief demonstration of techniques for managing your OpenStack metrics, using dimensions to better group and filter your metrics, and leveraging them for more informed correlation, orchestration, and alerting.

Speaker:
Aaditya Talwai is a Software Engineer at Datadog. Prior to that, he cut his teeth on solar financing software in San Francisco. He was born and raised in South Bangalore in a family of avid bowlers.
