OpenStreetMap Q&A is an evening of presentations, questions, and discussions on topics in and around OpenStreetMap, with talks this Wednesday from Chris Grundy, Jorieke Vyncke, and Derick Rethans.
New to OpenStreetMap and want to learn more or need some help getting started? Already mapping or using OSM and have any questions or challenges or want to see what others are up to? This is the event for you. The event will involve some presentations, and plenty of time to ask questions and discuss all things OpenStreetMap with a friendly group of OSM experts and beginners.
* Chris Grundy from the London School of Hygiene & Topical Medicine, has a done some really impressive work so far using OpenStreetMap to research the spread and prevention of disease. He has contributed to the map, in conjunction with Missing Maps Project volunteers, but is also looking to undertake some new offline-app development (hopefully with help from some OSM tech experts!)
* Jorieke Vyncke, Missing Maps coordinator for MSF and former board member of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, will give us an update on her perspective of recent OpenStreetMap humanitarian mapping activity.
* Derick Rethans, engineer at MongoDB, will give a talk about making a map from OpenStreetMap data, and ward boundary data, to aid in planning and managing election campaigns.
We will have some pizza (meat and veggie), and drinks (some beer, and soft drinks) available as well.
In general if you want to speak at a future OSM Q&A London event? Let us know! [masked]
