OpenStreetMap #editathon planning meeting

  • Oct 1, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • Rise Office (same building as T-Rex)

We're having a meeting to help plan the October 19th OpenStreetMap "editathon". More information about the editathon can be found here:

Come out and share your ideas for how to make this a great event!

Here are a few items we'll cover in the planning meeting

1) Space(s) on Cherokee

2) Finding local OpenStreetMap users to volunteer/lead sessions/be available for questions

3) Sponsors

4) Marketing/outreach

5) The nuts and bolts of the day - there are many ways - paper-based, GPS, and sitting at a laptop with aerial imagery - that people can help edit the map, and we probably want to offer multiple options.

PS: The T-Rex training room is reserved on Tuesday - but we can meet at my office, which is in the same building (and thus should work for the group).  Instead of going to the 12th floor, go to the 16th floor and turn left - I'll keep an eye out for everyone!

I'm meeting a journalist w/local paper Tuesday a.m.; hope to promote OpenDataSTL then. Are we a formal non profit yet? Still looking for sponsors? If anyone has a talking point, let me know.

Not sure if this is getting to you in time, but the main talking point is that we are looking for more people and seeking sponsors for the editathon as well as our monthly meetings and other events. We are not a formal non-profit.

But the main thing should be that we are always seeking more people interested in finding, creating, and using free open data.
