This is the first event for the Sydney Operational Intelligence group. Come along for a casual chat and meet your fellow members!
The venue is the Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe. It's at The Rocks, a short walk from the Circular Quay train station. Find us upstairs, level 2. We'll be there from 6pm, but you're welcome to come at any time.
The format is casual and there is no agenda, so here is some conversation material to get us going:
• YOU -- What do you do in this space? Do you apply operational intelligence in your day job? What's your experience level? Do you have any related side projects? What would you like to achieve in this space? Is there anything in particular that you would like to learn or experience?
• TOOLS -- Which platforms and tools do you use? Splunk or ELK (or other)? Enterprise or open source? COTS or homegrown? If you've used more than one platform, what are the differences and trade offs? Can you share principles or tips? What do you wish you knew before starting out?
• APPLICATION -- What excites you about operational intelligence? Which industries or applications are you most interested in? Which verticals are experiencing explosive growth (eg. DevOps, SecOps), and which are promising but untapped (eg. IoT)? Can you share case studies? What is the commercial potential?
• ANALYSIS -- How is the industry evolving? Where do you see this space in 5 years? Do you think BI and Big Data will merge with operational intelligence? Is commodisation going to happen, and would it affect adoption and growth? Will SaaS solutions and managed services become more popular? Will this stuff always be hard?!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
