What we're about

What kind of psychosis is required to hike into the woods, climb up and down mountains, drink out of streams, get dirty and sweaty, just to sleep on the ground??
-Well hell, I don't know. But I love it!

Are you a noob? (AKA beginner, inexperienced backpacker)
-I'd love to introduce you to the awesome world of backpacking.

Do you have older kids or teens?
-I take mine out on easy, much shorter overnights than I would generally do. Get them away from the concrete jungle, out of the house, off their cellular devices. BE KIDS! GET DIRTY! CLIMB A TREE! MAKE MUD PIES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! Nature is freaking cool guys, I promise.

Planning on adding some kayak and cycling adventures soon as well. I enjoy it all 😊

Shawnee State Forest aka the “Little Smokies of Ohio”

Needs a location

Roughly a 36+ mile loop trail in Southern Ohio. Day one will be about 11.5 miles to camp at site #2. Day two will be about 15.5 miles to camp at site #6. Day three will be about 9.5 miles back to the parking lot. Expect some good elevation, but probably not as much as north-central PA. Each campsite has an outhouse. As far as I know, there are no bridges over any of the creek crossings.

Starting point will be the parking lot here:
38°44'28.7"N 83°11'49.9"W
