'Kismet: Staged Reading of Tony Award-Winning Musical"

Please do not RSVP until you have purchased your ticket.

This is part of the Musical Theatre West Reiner Reading Series which produces musicals in a "semi-concert setting".  The performances are with minimal costumes and props and with scripts in hand.  Otherwise there is live music and the performances I have seen have all been very good.

The performers are mostly professional.  These are not student productions.

Kismet was 1953's Best Musical and includes well-known tunes like "Stranger in Paradise," "Baubles, Bangles, and Beads," and "Not Since Ninevah".  It is a Middle-Eastern-set story of a scheming poet and his daughter, who get mixed up in adventure and romance.

Available through Goldstar for $17.00 at:

Parking in Lot 7 fee (about $5).

The University Theatre is located just North of the parking lot, approx. 300 feet on the campus of CSULB. Signs will be posted directing you to the theatre.n theater lot, train station lot (across street) and street.
