Member Showcase: Video Biography DVD Gone Wild! by Mike McGready

Here's an example of how networking within OCMMA results in good projects coming your way. Mike McGready, Owner and Creative Director of Album of Life Video Studios, will show this very ambitious video biography DVD that allowed him to flex his multimedia muscle and creativity in several dimensions. It is a celebration of the life and common bonds of those who shared grades 1 through 8 at St. Philip Neri School in Portland, Oregon, 55 years before. Thirty-five biographies, a reunion slideshow, a Then and Now reliving of those formative years (great music!) and two half-day video shoots of his client were all part of the challenges Mike took on. He has many stories to tell.

Food and networking will begin at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be 6:30-9:00 PM. Visit www.ocmma.org for more information.

Very good. Robert was very informative and entertaining. Kept it moving right along and answered all questions. Mike's presentation was fun, too. Bonnie has written more details so I'll not.

Robert Morissey, of Samy's Camera, was brilliant in his presentation, explaining a variety of products from a helmet cam to a small voice over mic for your computer. Each item was presented with just enough detail to understand the value and differences, but not overwhelming or over our heads.
Mike Mc Gready, presented a wonderful Member Showcase with the making of a DVD for a client's 55 year 8th grade class reunion from 1953. It was an amazing product, showing the current events of the day with old time newsreels, music, and of course photos. I've known Mike's work for years, however this presentation showed the depth of his attention to detail to add little touches of perfection, along with his great capacity for patience, transforming shopping bags full of photos and mementos, into a marvelous tribute to days gone by.

There was a great mix of people at tonight's meeting. Great to see new faces as well as those of our colleagues from other professional associations. Robert Morrissey of Samys really knows his stuff!

Last night I got a preview of what OCMMA will hear at next week's General Meeting. Our scheduled speaker, Robert Morrissey of Samys Camera, spoke at the Professional Videographers Network meeting. He truely knows everything, yes EVERYTHING, about video and audio equipment. He even knows the future.
