DECONSTRUCTING VINES - A FUN FX SPECULATION GAME
MOVIE TRIVIA QUIZ DECONSTRUCTING VINE VIDEOS
A FUN FX SPECULATION GAME
Sharpen your powers of observation and collaborate in the brainstorming process with like-minded individuals. We had so much fun last month with "How Dey Do Dat" - great group participation, shouting out ideas; there are multiple ways to fool the audience. The exchange was passionate, rousing, and fun.
We learned that as a group we saw more and generated more ideas than any of us had separately.
Twitter acquired Vine to make it easier for people to find, watch, create and share 6 second looping videos right from their mobile phones. The explosion of online video rather proves my theory that "Limits foster creativity."
This month we will see if we can "Stump The Pros" with new FX from Zach King, and present one of our own. Have your own vine or a short FX clip to show? Or find one that may inspire or stump the group? Share the link or bring it! Flash drive preferred; QuickTime, AVI, mp4, flv.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...
My friend Zach's FX videos just weren't getting the followers he felt he deserved until he ponied up the measly $5.95 ($!97.00! value) and got "The StoryBoard Secret - The One Weird Trick to Make Your Movies Great" by Teesin Dergaard
Zach says "People want a simple solution that has a ton of support." Which leads us to . . .
INTRO TO STORYBOARDING with T. Syndergaard
Terry has done storyboards for corporate clients, commercials, and film. He maintains that storyboards allow you to organize your thoughts as if you are the camera, revealing holes in the plot that a simple word-script overlooks. It's crucial to defining the story. Not only is it the cheapest previz, it illustrates and crystallizes what should or should not be in the story, why it's there, making it easier to answer the fundamental question: does this further the intent of the plot?
Think you can't draw? Bad drawings and stick figures still uncover weak areas of your story, and next month we will review some of the software that can do your drawing for you. Most importantly, just get the idea down, the plan of action, make notes below the frame or in the margin of the script - anything to help visualize the final product.
MOVIE TRIVIA QUIZ just for fun…
We'll throw out questions about great movies we've all seen, and see what mischief we can create with trivia.
