What we're about
OCCN is an open/public Toastmasters club; a part of the Toastmasters International organization ( https://www.toastmasters.org/ ).
Guests are ALWAYS encouraged to visit. Come observe & learn about Toastmasters, and see if our club is a good fit for you.
What's OCCN's culture like? We're comprised of working professionals, mostly within our 20s, 30s & 40s. Out of a membership of 25, we average 50% of the base attending weekly (many members travel frequently for work). These dynamic schedules offer much variety within meetings, giving members and guests great opportunities to participate weekly!
The OCCN Benefit (WIIFM Factor) - working the Toastmasters program to support current work/career-related needs to improve Public Speaking & Leadership abilities. Members have practiced: product launch announcements, charity and start-up asks, industry specific trends for conferences, TEDx and competition speeches, keynotes, workshops...and speeches created specifically for a Toastmasters project!
OCCN's Goal - to assist each other in blending the learning from the Toastmasters program into our daily lives to get the best growth potential. What each of us puts into the program determines what we get out of it. The more participation in the club, the better the results in our efforts!
OCCN's Successes - repeated recognition through TI's Distinguished Club Program (DCP); Sweeping contests in five consecutive Area competitions, with members advancing to speak at Divisional and District level competitions; Founder's District (this is the region where Toastmasters was born!) requesting members to deliver educational workshops at district-wide events; Winning 1st place in a PR video contest; Members receiving honors and recognitions outside of Toastmasters BECAUSE of their involvement in Toastmasters!
