The Orange County chapter meets monthly as a community of writers inspired to learn more about literary tools and the business of writing.

■ 9:00am - 9:30am Networking
■ 9:30am - 11:00am Guest Speaker

**THIS MEETING IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT (NOT AVAILABLE ON ZOOM).**

Many writers join our group with a determination to share their story of loss and the goal of helping others with similar journeys. There is a skill to writing these stories for an audience, which is different than writing to fulfill your own therapeutic needs.

Our speaker has had incredible success writing about dealing with loss and using it as a source of strength. Her first book, Motherless Daughters, was a #1 New York Times bestseller and achieved similar success around the world. Her seven published books have been translated into 14 languages and published in 11 countries.

The AfterGrief, Hope’s most recent book, offers an innovative new language for discussing the long arc of loss.

Whether your subject matter is about loss or not, this session will help you better understand the craft of writing and marketing from one of the most successful authors to speak at CWC.

(Just Like A Writing) Master Class for Aspiring Writers of Any Level (IN-PERSON)

Guest Speaker: Sheri Fink
Topic: “Adventures in Independent Children’s Book Publishing for Fun and Profit”

May 7th 2022
■ 9:00am - 9:30am Networking
■ 9:30am - 11:00am Guest Speaker

**THIS MEETING IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT (NOT AVAILABLE ON ZOOM).**

While adult genres share many similar aspects, publishing children’s books is its own world. The written content and illustrations are challenges unto themselves. The book size, printing, and page count are all unique to the format.

Marketing and reaching the audience is also different, as a book has to appeal to a young child and their parent.

Independent children’s author Sheri Fink will take us on a journey through it all, including the incredible lengths she takes for self-promotion.

As with all CWC author speakers, the genre is only part of the story. The author’s journey applies to every writer.
