Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary and Garden Cafe!

About Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary:

Surrounded by the Catskill Mountains in the town made famous for peace and music, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary provides shelter to cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, and goats who have been rescued from cases of abuse, neglect and abandonment.

The sanctuary is open from 11AM-4PM. Tour times are 11:30, 1:15, and 3:00. I am suggesting we go to the earliest tour before the hottest part of the day comes around, but we can move the time until later, if needed.

Admission:

$10 Adults

$5 Kids/Toddlers/Seniors

Free for members and children 3 and under

Carpooling: Once we get an idea of who is available and interested we can choose a location(s) to meet and drive up together.

Directions from Woodstock: (Recommended over GPS directions)

From the center of downtown Woodstock  the sanctuary is 7.2 miles west on 212.

Head on 212 West towards Bearsville 212. Be aware that in Bearsville 212 takes a right turn while route 45 is straight. Make sure to stay on 212.

Follow 212 thru Shady and Lake Hill. After 4 or 5 winding miles you’ll see a sign for Willow. When you pass the white church you’re exactly 6/10 mile from Van Wagner Road. The sign for Van Wagner is small but it’s easy to spot because there is a Flagstone/Bluestone dealer and a car repair place at the intersection. Also there’s a big sign for the Willow Post Office. At night it’s easy to spot because it’s one of the few illuminated intersections. Turn right on Van Wagner and you’ll see a big field and barns on the left. The entrance is 35 Van Wagner, second driveway on the left.

It was great to connect with the Montclair Vegans meetup group for this event!! There was a total of 11 meetupers at the sanctuary and 9 of us continued to Garden Cafe for a delicious meal. Here are some pictures: http://www.meetup.com/veganmontclair/photos/16110922/

    Hi Kristen,
Sorry you couldn't make it. Fabulous day! The sanctuary and tour were wonderful, meeting the animals as well as the serious focus on the animal food industry. Lunch at Garden Café was relaxing in the garden, food fantastic. We made a special stop in New Paltz for health food store and an all vegan chocolate shop! Outrageous!

Goshen CVS or Middletown Orange Plaza (Taco Bell) work best for me. Happy to drive if more people want to connect up here.

I was thinking possible meeting locations for capooling could be the Goshen CVS and/or the Newburgh Mall. I can drive the whole way, but I have a small car so if more people join we might need another driver.

The sanctuary is a heart-opening place and deeply advocates veganism. Garden Café is flawless!
