Orcas Island Kayakers is available for Orcas Island residents and their guests and students from Body Boat Blade in Eastsound WA who are interested in paddling on the Moran State Park lakes and local islands and shorelines in the San Juan County area. If you like to paddle, practice and learn new skills from other members this is a way to meet your neighbors and have some fun. Members can organize a short day trip lasting an hour or two or even an overnight trip to local campground areas. We ask that you have a good set of skills including the ability to self rescue and also be able to assist a fellow paddler who may need help. Trip organizers should outline tide, weather and ocean current expectations for their events and a recommended list of equipment (water, spray skirts, flares, food, camping items, etc.) and any logistical travel issues like ride sharing and parking.
