Every SoCaMO event is a “Working Event” where agenda items will be worked on and developed. All questions will be answered by group experts as best as possible. In addition agenda items will be discussed with those participating taking on responsibilities to further complete activities.

Items Discussed:

I) Create a list of SoCaMO approved Venues
a) Define Venues by Group Activity,
b) Seminar, Active, Conference, Social, Foodie, etc
c) Best Practices of member expectations at venue by activity
d) Contact name of Venue Promo/Marketing mgrs. Include in list for SoCaMO-Organizers
- ACTION: Chris will begin to post a spreadsheet for Organizers of Venues / Venue Contacts

II) Working with Locations
a) Create Sample of Letter of Agreements (we provide x, you provide y)
b) Request all Organizers share Contacts of current venue marketing promoters (if willing)
c) Problems / Handshakes, negotiation terms, Gotcha list of warning signs of problems
d) Public Spaces: Malls have Community Centers, Government offices, Yoga Centers, some restaurants have back-rooms (see future list)
- ACTION: Members will submit prior LOA's as samples

III) Developing Your Meetup Page for Location
a) Negotiate Tip: Point Business to Successful events web/URLs
b) Pictures of Venue at their Competitors venues
c) Page with instructions, location, venue management, parking
- ACTIONS: Members suggestions for any best use of Event page?

IV) Communication to Members
a) Re-Contact: --> Request Cell# w/event question is best for assured confirmation & set communication expectations
b) Smaller RSVP design email header with Person's name Personalize! Personalize!
c) Use Filters to shape messages 1-month inactive vs 6-month inactive should get different email content messages
d) Set expectations, text get permission prior to sending txt, warn on rules of flakes
e) Food Venue Tip: Restaurant each member puts cash jar for last food plate served. Last plate served person gets cash in jar
f) Use User Nickname "_X or _0, _00" to denote missed event(s) to mark / record / enforce attendance rules
g) Need best practices for checks/multi-checks, ideas on coordinating and grouping discussed.

V) Review of SoCaMo Initiatives:
A. Listen and Learn Tour… State of Meetup - Chris K & SoCaMO Team will be visiting various meetup events to reach out and meet with organizers and see their events, challenges, & issues
a) Will be sharing information with Meetup HQ
b) Creating Polls to surface top issues according to SoCaMO organizers
c) Create a Repository / Library of Resources from “Working Group Events”

B. Regular Monthly Events around SoCal for new organizers to learn from experts

C. Meetup Academy: Learn to be an excellent local Meetup organizer via workshops, bootcamps, and seminars focused on using Meetup Platform tools and technology. Basic group / event skills and management

a) Develop a material to aid organizers to grow an excel at creating great events

D. Community Organizer School: Learn to take the skills from Meetup and go big, broad and extend your group beyond single group to regional or national or international levels.

c) Have a structure of excellence not solely bound by group size or “Star-System”

a) As we create more content from our “Working Groups” those that participate will be accredited, recognized and if possible rewarded.
b) Access may be limited to active members of SoCaMO
c) Decision on “What makes a great Event? A great Meetup Group? What makes a great Organizer?
