We have been to Hotto Potto before, but 1/31 will be a very special celebration of the Chinese new year! Don't miss the show, including Wan Lum Temple's ceremonial Lion Dance, Kung Fu demonstration, & FIREWORKS! This will be a really fun night, with LIMITED SPACE - 28 people max.
With over 1,000 years of history, the original practice of cooking 'hot pot' has its roots firmly planted in Asian culture. While many countries have their own regional variants, cultural anthropologists credit the Chinese for first pioneering this fascinating style of cooking.
Traditionally, a large vessel of spicy simmering broth, typically flavored with meat or vegetables, is laid in the center of a table and accompanied by a selection of thinly sliced raw foods including seafood, meats and vegetables for diners to place in the bubbling stock for cooking.
After a brief dip in the flavorful soup, food items are typically removed with specialized utensils and are placed in one of several condiments that can include numerous herbs such as scallions and cilantro along with various sauces, oils and vinegars.
This is exactly how Hotto Potto does it; and it's DELICIOUS!! You begin with your choice of broth, either meat- or vegetable-based, seasoned to your level of spiciness - mild, medium, hot or NUMB hot. Then they have a wonderful selection of meats, seafoods, veggies, noodles, etc to throw in the bubbling broth.
Take a look at the menu - you can see what a huge variety they offer, you could literally come up with hundreds of different combinations - http://hottopotto.com/Menu.html
The best part is experimenting with all the different condiments; fresh ginger, garlic, sesame paste, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sriracha sauce, you name it... It's SO much fun! Bring your appetite and your sense of adventure - you'll go back time and again.
Since the attendance is limited, this one will fill up fast, so please let me know ASAP if you'll join us. PLEASE only RSVP yes if you are a POSITIVE yes - no maybes on this one. I will send out a confirmation request 5-7 days before the event - if you do not confirm by the deadline (24hours before the event), your RSVP will be changed to a no. Again, we are trying to be fair to the group members and the restaurant management by trying to cut down on the last-minute cancellations and/or no-shows. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you, and see you there!
