***BEACH TIME! Bring bathing suits, towels, lunch, water, sunscreen and anything you would need to have a DAY AT THE BEACH!**** WHAT it is: Forest School is learning about the natural world through observation, journaling, hands-on experiences, reflection, and sharing. It is to help you feel comfortable with the outside world. It is a weekly class/co-op open to homeschoolers K-12 (and their younger siblings). PLEASE BRING A JOURNAL AND PENCIL TO RECORD OBSERVATIONS AND LESSONS. What it's NOT: religious or nature-worshiping. You are also not required to attend every single class. Come when you want, or when it fits your schedule. Also this is NOT a drop off class: please stay with your child(ren) for the duration of each class. WHO: Homeschoolers in Central Florida K-12 (and their younger siblings). Please RSVP. WHERE: Outside! We will have class(es) and field trips in the counties of Orange, Seminole, and Brevard. NOTE on weather: If there is a thunderstorm, then class will be held inside or be cancelled. If only rain, then class will continue outside; please dress appropriately and plan to get wet. Bring a change of clothes. Classes/field trips will be held at a park, library, wildlife preserve, walking on trails, people's houses and backyards, downtown area, wilderness areas, and more. WHEN: Classes/Field Trips - TUESDAYS 10:30am-Noon WHY: To breathe fresh air! To connect with life! To unplug! It IS okay to be outside! HOW: Most of the classes will be public and free places. Some of the Field Trips might have a small fee. You will need to cover that for your family. Current schedule: Classes: TUESDAY SEPT 3-24 (different location each TUESDAY)
This Tuesday please come out and volunteer with us. The Hunger Van and Kid Scouts they are calling all available volunteers to help with meal packing to give hope and food to those that are hungry. Hunger is defined as not knowing where the next meal is coming from. The bags will be delivered to shelters and families that need it most and contains is a mixture of lentils, rice, pink Himalayan salt, cumin and other spices with 10 servings each. If the next Tuesday isn't the day for you, please consider volunteering the next time. This event will be going on every last Tuesday of the month . all ages welcome :) Meal packing noon to 1pm Cleanup 1 to 1:30pm Good Samaritan Village is a place that have many entrance we need to go tru the main gate with the security guys for them to let us in and give you a map (attached in pictures here too) to the community center. This is near Pleasant Hill and John Young Parkway in Kissimmee. Once John Young crosses over Pleasant Hill, it actually turns into S. This is a GREAT place for the kids to hang out, have fun, meet other homeschoolers and socialize while getting some exercise. Defy is currently offering a summer special where for $25 per month, you can jump up to 2 hours EVERY DAY, M-F, and two hours before 1pm on Sat/Sun. Classes are designed to increase flexibility, stamina and core strength. No prior skill or fitness level is required. All participants are required to use deodorant and have clean, odor free bodies. This is a private class limited to 6 students. The class does get full, so you should call Jennifer at[masked] to reserve your spot. A waiver is required and must be signed by a legal guardian prior to attending class. The cost is $20 per child and discounts are given if you prepay for a month of classes.
