What we're about

We are women of Central Florida who come together as a team of paddlers to exercise, be outside on the water, meet new people and build community. All skill levels are welcome over the age of 14 to join our women's dragon boat team. Dragon boating is a team sport that builds endurance while focusing on your core and synchronicity, together we move forward. Our weekly Orlando Sirens practice may be supplemented by also participating in races throughout the season. Racing is not required to join our team and if interested we will happily connect you to other opportunities to paddle more than once per week. See you on the water!

Orlando Sirens Women's Dragon Boat Practice

Needs a location

CURRENT PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS DURING COVID:

  1. We are filling boats to capacity. If we have more than 20 people signed up, I will then work on finding a second steer for an additional boat.

  2. Preference will be given to paid members. If you sign up for practice but do not show up, you will be placed in a holding pattern for an indeterminate amount of time to allow others who are more punctual to attend.

  3. Masks are not required however please practice caution.

  4. Boat and Club equipment must be wiped down after use. No exceptions. We will supply the cleaning agents (EPA registered, professional grade) in order to do so. If you leave without cleaning equipment, your name will be jotted down, you will be talked to and there is a possibility that you may be put on a waitlist for future practices. We are not playing around with this.

  5. We are allowing Club lifevests to be used however you must disinfect the vest after use. We have Lysol and other cleaning agents.

  6. Unlike in the past, we will not swing by the dock to pick you up if you are late for this reason. You will need your temperature taken before you touch the boat.

  7. Waivers for 2022 will need to be signed by all paddlers, both new and old.

Are you ready to take the dragon boat challenge!?!

This practice is an open practice and recommended for all paddlers even those that have never paddled before.

First timers can "check us out for free" 4 times. After that, it is $200 for a year plus you also get a racing shirt!

First Timers need to arrive at least 15-30 minutes early! Also you need to click on the MORE>FILES tab at the top of the web page and download the waivers. Bring your completed form with you. You will also need water to drink on the boat. Paddles, pfd's and the boat are provided.

Our typical practice consists of a 5-10 minute warm-up paddle at 50% intensity. We will vary the practice to enhance our endurance for races and focus on elements that need work based on the coach's assessment of our progress. Each practice has a mixture of fairly intense workouts and a whole bunch fun.

New Paddler Dragon Boat Practice

Needs a location

FREE EVENT FOR NEW PADDLERS!

This practice is great for those who have never tried dragon boating before and want to learn all the basics at a leisurly, casual pace. Join us as we go through correct technique and breakdown the dragon boat stroke. All are welcome to join.

Coaches and veteran paddlers will be in attendance to help our newbies.

Practice will start promptly at 9:45 am with the filling out of paperwork. Don't be late and left on the dock while we have fun on the water.

It is recommended that new paddlers wear dri-fit clothing, water shoes and bring bottles of water. Please wear sunscreen as the water reflects the sun and we want everyone to be safe.

When arriving, look for the little ticket booth. There will be an open swinging gate door. Look for the dragon boats near the dock.

Paddles Up!
