What we're about

We are women of Central Florida who come together as a team of paddlers to exercise, be outside on the water, meet new people and build community. All skill levels are welcome over the age of 14 to join our women's dragon boat team. Dragon boating is a team sport that builds endurance while focusing on your core and synchronicity, together we move forward. Our weekly Orlando Sirens practice may be supplemented by also participating in races throughout the season. Racing is not required to join our team and if interested we will happily connect you to other opportunities to paddle more than once per week. See you on the water!

CURRENT PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS DURING COVID: 1. We are limiting the number of paddlers on a boat to 10 plus the steer. I am reducing the number of people on the Meetups and there will be a waitlist. If we get more than 10 people signing up, I will then work on finding a second steer for an additional boat. Preference will be given to paid members. Reach out to me if you have questions. 2. Paddlers will sit one per row, alternating sides. 3. All paddlers must wear a mask or buff throughout practice. You must have it on, not on the seat, not beside you but on your face. If you show up to practice without a mask you may not get on the boat. No exceptions. We are planning on having buffs for purchase, not to borrow. 4. Boat and Club equipment must be wiped down after use. No exceptions. We will supply the cleaning agents (EPA registered, professional grade) in order to do so. If you leave without cleaning equipment, your name will be jotted down, you will be talked to and there is a possibility that you may be put on a waitlist for future practices. We are not playing around with this. 5. We are not allowing use of the Club lifevests. This means you must bring your own. You cannot use one from the shed. With Lysol in short supply we cannot spray down the vests. Bring your own pfd or vest. 6. You will need to arrive at the lake 15 minutes prior to practice. We will be taking forehead temperature readings before you get on the boat. Unlike in the past, we will not swing by the dock to pick you up if you are late for this reason. You will need your temperature taken before you touch the boat. 7. Waivers for 2020 will need to be signed by all paddlers, both new and old. Personal flotation devices and paddles will be provided. Please dress in clothing you will be comfortable in exercising and shoes or sandals that may get wet without concern. If it is your first time please arrive 15 minutes earlier than the meetup time to sign waivers and get a quick Dragon Boat 101 before the practice
