The Central Orlando Yoga Group Pages

The Orlando Yoga Group

A group of like-minded persons who enjoy Yoga and wish to meet others who have similar interests; who wish to encourage the growth of this community of individuals and promote yoga to our community at large. Goals for the future include learning, gaining experience and service.

Policies & Procedures:

Who should join?
This group is for Yoga fans who live in and
around the Orlando-area, all styles and all levels.
If you have never tried yoga, then please feel free
to peruse our site, take a look at our list of links
to studios in the Orlando-area, under "Files".

However, this group is more suitable for those
who have tried yoga before. This includes
those new to yoga, beginners if you will, as
well as those more seasoned. Our events
are appropriate both for beginners and more
experienced practioners of yoga, as well as teachers.

The purpose of the group is?
To allow those who like yoga to meet others
who are into yoga. This group is not a "dating
group". It is for both single and married persons
who want to learn more about yoga. Of course,
you will meet others with similar interests in Yoga,
but "dating" is not our primary purpose.

It's purpose is to facilitate exposure
to current events in Orlando, and also, exposure
to new and different styles of yoga. Hopefully,
this group will allow you to grow in your yoga
knowledge, beyond what you learn in your
favorite yoga class.

Participate in those events that
you are interested in; they are quite varied;
and some may not be your thing,
while others are. Suggestions for topics
are gladly appreciated!

Is there a fee to join?
There is no fee to join the group. There are
fees, however, for each individual event.
These cover the rent for the space used, and
help pay for this meetup website. Paypal
is no longer available, I feel the fee's paid to pay pal are a waste I rather take an IOU!!

Financial hardship cases
will be thoughtfully considered,
please email the organizer directly; as this will
be confidential.

Are there any requirements of members?
This group is meant to be an active, dynamic
exchange of ideas and events-all related to
yoga. See below for important requirements.

LOGIN REQUIREMENT:
Members are required to login to the site at
least once every three months, as a show of
interest for the group and it's purpose.

If you are a member, that has been removed,
after being out-of-the country for a while,
for example, we welcome you back to the
group!!

If you know that you will be unable
to participate for a period of time then you
should email the organizer with the reason,
and exceptions can be made.

RSVP POLICY:
We have a strict RSVP policy, if you rsvp "Yes"
for an event, then you should attend.

If you reserve a spot, and don't show, it is a sign
of disrespect for your fellow members, the organizers,
and for the teacher, who has set aside their time
to teach our group. This is inconsistent with
the Yogic teachings that we study.

Try and make an effort to show up. be courteous

Of course, emergencies happen, and
in this case, you should change your
rsvp to a "No" provided it is within 48 hours
prior to an event.

If it is closer than 48 hours prior to the event,
then an organizer should be called via phone.
Emails after 48 hours before hand, will not
be sufficient. This will allow them to contact
someone who wants to attend. Two "no-shows" in
one year, without explanation, and you
will be removed. (We have on average,
eight to ten events a year.)

THE EVENT IS FULL, HOW DO I GET
ON THE WAITING LIST?
If you wish to attend, and the event is full, you
should rsvp "No" with a message stating that
you would like to attend, and you will be added
to a waiting list. In this case, you should email
the organizer a cell phone number, so that you
can be reached when a spot opens up. This number
will be kept confidential.

WHY IS THERE SUCH A STRICT RSVP POLICY?
This policy is in place in order to ensure that
members wanting to attend, can do so; and
those who can't, don't take up spots.

Many of our teachers volunteer their time
without fee, to teach us, and we still must
cover the rent for the space. Please be
considerate and follow these rules. The
organizers do not wish to remove anyone,
but will do so for anyone who abuses this
rule.

POSTS ON THE WEBSITE:
There is no requirement to post on the site,
However, this site is for the members
and the yoga community, so posting is
Strongly Encouraged. biggrin

Examples of posts are:
1) Details of a special yoga workshop
a new class at your favorite studio,
or a new opportunity for teachers or
students of yoga.

2) A yoga question regarding a pose or
practice that you have (we have many
teachers as members, who can be a
great resource for you. )

3) Details regarding a related practice, massage
or meditation, for example, or a "green"
event or news.
Most events and topics in the "alternative
health realm" are appropriate, as some of
our members will most likely be interested.

If you have a question about placing a
post, then email and organizer.

The organizers attempt to keep up with all of
the yoga events in the area, but it is impossible
to do this alone. If you know of something,
but don't want to post it, them email an
organizer and they can either help you post
it, or post it for you! tongue

PROCEDURE FOR POSTING:
Posting on the site is easy.
First, make sure to log in.
Then click on "Messages" on the
Left menu bar.
Then click on "start a new discussion."
Any problems, contact an organizer
and they will be glad to help.

I still have questions??
If you still have questions, then email
an organizer and they will be happy
to answer you!!

I have suggestions?.
Then email an organizer, suggestions
are ALWAYS welcome!!

Thanks for visiting our site, and we
welcome you to our group!

It is a unique opportunity to further
your knowledge of yoga, and help
the Orlando Yoga Community grow
and thus provide more opportunities
for you!!
