This month, one of our own, Nickolas Whiting (http://j.mp/1eSKmQI) (@prggmr (http://j.mp/1eSKAr5)), will be presenting on his XPSPL library (http://j.mp/1eSKu2x) for emitting and handling events in PHP. Here's a little about it from Nickolas himself:
This talk introduces signal and event programming with XPSPL in PHP to developers by covering the methodology of signal programming, installation of XPSPL, configuration and environment, how to use signals, processes, interruptions and asynchronous IO capabilities. XPSPL is a high performance, open-source library for signal and event programming in PHP. It introduces signal programming using object based signals and processes that feature interruptions, priorities and exhaustion. It also provides an event-loop for complex event processing, time based code execution and asynchronous I/O. Nickolas, our presenter, is an Orlando engineer at Eonian and the author and maintainer of XPSPL. He's been contributing to open-source software since early 2006.
We're back to our regular spot this month: Panino's Pizza on Orange Ave. If you're looking for parking, on-street metered parking is free after 6pm, and there are a number of city garages nearby. I don't recommend parking at the Plaza, though.
Looking forward to another great meeting this month,
David @ OrlandoPHP.org
