Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I was actually lurking for a while in the golug irc channel, but never made it back after my laptop died.

Currently I have been messing around with Flask making ugly personal websites as I try to figure out how to use python on the web.

I'll try to make it to the golug meeting on Wednesday. Thanks for the heads up!

Charlie,
Welcome to the group! :).  I'm the other David; the one who runs the group is David Rogers.  As Ketema mentioned there's a bunch of good groups in the Orlando area if you're interested in technology and programming.  In fact, since you mentioned you're new to Python, you might be interested to hear that the local Linux group (GOLUG) is giving an intro to Python presentation next Wednesday (April 4th) night at 7pm at FullSail.  For details check out the website: http://www.golug.org/

There's many other good groups around town as well.  A good resource is the Orlando Tech Events newsletter that lists the tech events going on for the current month. http://techevents.us/orlando/

One of the biggest struggles in any group is getting an interesting topic and people that are also interested in the topic.  If you have a topic you'd like to learn about or discuss post the idea to the group. :).

I think its mostly quiet.  Most of us also participate in other groups.  The coding dojo group is pretty active along with php (David runs both) I like Postgres and ran that group for a year but it dies down.  We love meeting new people and if you want to get together this is the best way.  Just suggest a time on the group.

Hi,

New to the area, like python (total noob though), would love to meet up with some other like minded python geeks. Is this group dead or just very quiet?

Thanks,
Charlie
