12155 N. Oracle Road (Tangerine & Oracle Roads), Oro Valley, AZ
Note: There has been both a time and leadership change for the summer. If this new time suits you, please sign up at the latest by 9PM the night before so that Marianne Milczarek, who will now be the walk host, can check to see who to expect the next morning. Many thanks and happy walking.
This is approximately a 3.5-mile hike. We will start at Chase Bank and walk over to the walking/bike trail and follow it until we hit Innovation Parkway and Tangerine. At that point we will start the gradual ascent up Innovation Parkway. This grade is approximately a 10-30% varying grade by my eyeball. At Roche Ventana, we will cut through the property to see their sculpture garden, do an internal loop on-property back along the fire road and then exit onto Innovation Parkway where we continue up hill. At Rancho Vistoso we will cross the street and start our descent trip back to cars at Chase Bank.
This is approximately a 1.5-hour trip in the early morning and for some, even shorter. For those who want to walk it faster they can go on ahead. If our return time is less fifteen minutes of less apart from each other, I suggest we hit Starbuck's at First and Oracle for a morning coffee/pastry and a social cool down.
Please note: This is a self-paced walk. I will set a pace but feel free to move ahead if you are faster or lag behind if you are slower. The group will be able to see each other's progress because we can see each other on both sides of the street. If you are lagging at the end, please just cross the street when you see the fast moving group coming downhill and join back in with the group for the return trip home. It's easy downhill. If there is no one signed up by 8PM the night before when RSVP closes, the meetup is cancelled, although I might still do the walk.
