Joel Chelliah and Henrik Wingerei will talk about Elm, a functional language that compiles to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Elm is designed for functional reactive programming and makes it easy to create interactive applications and games – so expect visual demos!

Elm is itself written in Haskell and you can recognize many concepts from Haskell in the language, but no previous experience with Haskell is needed.

Elm brings the benefits of purity and an expressive static type system to GUI programming. Elm's types are inferred, so no type annotations are needed to get the benefits of type checking.

There is a lot more on Elm on the project's home page: http://elm-lang.org

BEKK will sponsor food, which will be served before the talks.
