What we're about
Musicians and Singers (50+) is a group for musicians age 50 and over who wish to socialize with other musicians, singers, song writers, composers, and music teachers. Amateurs and professionals are welcome.
Our Meetups are in part jam sessions so you can feel free to bring a musical instrument, however electric instruments are not possible due to the limitations of the venue.
The age restriction is not intended to exclude people but to stream line the attendees, so that people will have more common interests and goals.
Many of us gave up the idea of becoming musicians many years ago in lieu of another career but never let go of our common passion. As we age, many of us struggle to meet new people and build new friendships.
So, how does one get to meet other musicians after so many years?
The purpose of this group is to bring musicians and singers together for discussion and foster camaraderie. No matter what your area of interest is, if you enjoy singing and playing, you are welcome.
You might find a partner for a musical duet, or a bass player to complete your band ensemble; perhaps you are looking for singers to form a choir, or a co-writer to collaborate on new material. You may want to learn about home studio recording gear, or want to buy or sell an instrument. You just may find the solution to that elusive song lick you have been working on or learn a new chord or two.
You may be new in town or perhaps you have just retired. Whatever your circumstances, it's never too late to make new friends and reignite your passion for music.
We meet once a month at a local venue in the Wellington Street Village area of the city. Engage in fun trivia, participate in our sing-along, enjoy performances by some of our members, but most of all, come out and have a good time.
