Genre Night - Translated Books

  • to
  • Needs a location

  • This will be our second Genre night.
Since "Biography" went so well I thought I would run a second genre night, but this time the overall genre will be "Translated books".

For this event, simply share your thoughts on reading any book whose original publication was NOT English or French. I know we have many bi-lingual people in the group and I thought to be fair we should remove both "native" languages from the mix.

So... something from Homer and the Greeks? Jose Saramago? Haruki Murakami? Fyodor Dostoyevsky? There's loads to choose from.

Can I read the book in French and discuss it in English?

I'd say probably, based on what Chris wrote. I think he was just trying to steer clear of English->French or French->English translations to make us step outside of our comfort zones a bit. Something like German->French probably fits.
