Talk title: Markets and Visualizations Agenda: • 6:00 - Pizza, Beer, and Networking • 6:30 - Community Announcements • 6:35 - Talk - Markets and Visualizations By Patrick Turgeon • 7:30 - End of presentation and wrap up Talk description: Markets and Visualizations The objective of this session is to provide an introduction to markets and explore visualizations for technical analysis, forecasting, and some basic quantitative trading strategies. A brief overview of the stock market via an online trading platform and data streaming tool will be provided. Specific topics include technical analysis within the news cycle, statistical forecasting methods (ARIMA), as well as, mean reversion and momentum trading. Speaker Bio: Patrick Turgeon is Principal at rally. The focus of the firm is to provide financial research and quantitative trading strategies to investors on the TSX Venture. In addition, rally covers selected companies in Health, Mining, Renewables, Fin-Tech, Telecommunications and Technology. Patrick holds a Masters in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University and is currently enrolled in the Masters in Business Journalism at Arizona State University.
