You can choose to ride 1,2, or 3. There is an order to this.
We will start at the Park next to the river bank on the South side of the River. Take a left over the bridge and about 200 yards it will be on your left. Don't park in the double long vehicle and boat parking areas. Parking is free until May.
Phase 1 - 11.4 miles. Meet and greet at 10:40 and leave sharp at 11.
Overall average 12 mph! This is to try and get the people out to the country side and enjoy the scenic area. The roads are without a shoulder and traffic can vary. There a few small rolling hills. I will not exceed 15 on the flats. For those of you that want to exceed this you may go out to the end and then loop back and catch the tail end of the group. This gives you more miles. I will be keeping to my pace!! So if you think it is to slow or to fast I don't really care. Ask questions about group riding, what to take on longer rides, and general cycling questions.
Phase 2 - 10.7 miles. Two small hills included. Leave the park at 12:30.
Overall average will be 13.5 to 14.5 mph. Same concept with faster riders. Go out and back to the last one in the group and circle around. I will not exceed 16 mph on the flats.
Phase 3 - 18.1 miles with one solid climb at the start averaging about 6% grade and then two other hill at about 5% average grade.
Leave the park around 1:45 ish.
Overall pace 14.5 to 15 mph. You won't be doing that going up the hills but you will be going much faster down the sections in between. This will be challenging if you have not been on your bike a bit or at least put in some hill time.
Helmets required. I don't expect the Phase 1 riders to have all the necessary equipment to repair or know how to fix a flat, but I do expect you to carry an extra tube for your bike. They are only $5 or $6 at the bike shops. I will assist in flat repair if needed.
We only do a short rest at the end of the first two out and backs. Nothing longer than 5 minutes. The 3rd Phase we will regroup at several key points. One being the top of the first hill. Second at the end of the first rolling hills at Redland, Third and fourth quick stops at the two left turns with each being about 5 miles a part. The last one at the right turn for the last 4.5 miles.
Point of Contact: Art Fleming,[masked]-5844. Call or text if you are running late, but realize the concept of putting times is to keep you to a time. So, if the group is ready to ride and your not ready to go you may be left behind. But the first two are out and back so you really can't get lost!
Optional social at the Carver Hanger afterwards. Free peanuts!
