The Wurst Day of the Year Ride (from Garden Home)

Note - I have no computer access this morning. If you want to either RSVP or un-RSVP, please call my cell # (below) and leave a voice or text message. -ab The Worst Day Ride in February is a great event, but this Wurst Day ride comes with sauerkraut. The ride is 36 miles and 2300 vertical feet from Garden Home, out to Cooper Mountain, Scholls and Sherwood, and back up through Tigard to the Original Bavarian Sausage House for the wurst lunch in Portland.

Who will like this ride: "In between" riders - not too slow and not real fast, but sort of in the middle. Serious trainers and riders who like a brisk pace might find my pace a little slow, but novices and those who haven't been riding much will find the hills too much.

Meet and Greet: 10:00 Saturday morning at the Garden Home Rec Center.

Wheels Spinning Promptly by 10:30 SHARP - Dont'show up at the last minute and make everyone else wait!

Ride Leader:  Adam [masked] [masked]

PACE: Not a serious training ride, but way too hilly for novices. A "true intermediate" pace - please be able to cruise comfortably at about 15 mph on flat roads with no wind, and go up hills slowly but steadily. Plan on taking a good 3 hours, plus the time we take for stops and lunch.

MAP: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2324649

TERRAIN - A mixture of some flats, lots of rolling hills, and the significant climb up Cooper Mountain. Lots of rollers in the middle of the ride, and flat near the end.

TRAFFIC: A little bit of everything - some residential streets, some arterials with bike lanes, rural low traffic roads, and a couple bike trails. I have ridden these roads many times and know they're safe, but if you've never shared a road with cars before then this route may be more traffic than you're used to. City riders and commuters will be fine.

RIDE TYPE: This is a social ride. Fast riders who like to push the pace should be prepared to wait for the others. We will ride as a group, wait for the slowest and keep it relaxed.

BRING: Water and enough snacks for a good 3 hours.  Spare tube (the RIGHT SIZE please) and a pump that fits your tube. We'll pass several stores along the way so food, water and bathrooms will be available enroute.

WEATHER: Hard rain will cancel, but we'll ride in intermittent showers. I will post notice by 7:45 AM to announce whether or not the ride is on.

REQUIRED: Helmets are Mandatory - this is a requirement, not a request.

Obey all traffic laws. Remember, you are representing the bike community, so represent us well.

Please have your bike in good working order. If your bike is not in adequate working order we may ask you to sit out the ride.

Hey Adam, I've been working on getting my disc brakes fixed to be ride-ready. If my tinkering goes south and I'm not able to get them in order, I will text you before the start. Thanks.

This looks like a pretty self sufficient group, so I added 3 more spots.
