Calling all lesbian classical music lovers from all over the Zoom universe!
The live concert hall world as we know it has come to a halt. Temporarily, I hope. Until we are vaccinated against all the COVID mutations, Out to the Symphony -- San Francisco Bay Area Classical Music Lovers has moved online.
As we patiently wait behind the glow of screens, we gather every other Monday 5-8 pm PST/PDT (if not local, please calculate the time difference), unless we depend on a public live streamed event Together, we watch films around classical music themes and attend virtual concerts. We aim to focus on feminist, lesbian, and queer composers, conductors, and performers. But of course, we cannot exclude Bach, Beethoven, and Bartok.
Long to share your passion for classical music with other lesbians sheltering in place? Perfect, me too. Originally, I started this meet-up so we could attend concerts at the Davis Symphony Hall together. Alas, no one can be certain when we'll gather as an in-person group again.
Until then, my fellow lesbian and queer classical music lovers, kindly escape your domestic bliss and engage in celestial meet-ups of harmonious pleasure (the dissonants of modern classical repertoire included). Via Zoom, of course. Now more than ever it is crucial to cherish what little we possibly can. Come on and escape the COVID stress with three hours of lively music and conversations.
