This group has been formed for the sole purpose of bringing together likeminded individuals who enjoy the great outdoors.

We will be organizing hiking & trekking events, fitness and other fun outdoor activities in the UAE, Oman and the Region. We will also be planning trips to other countries in the Middle East, South East Asia, Central Asia, Africa & Eastern Europe.

If you are into outdoor activities and are looking for adventures that take you to places that are breathtaking, fun filled and less traveled, you’re welcome to join us.

Season Starting Hike - Leopard Canyon (Beginner Level)

To start off the hiking season, we have decided to go for our group’s signature hike. This will be a hike at an area in RAK commonly known as Leopard Canyon, as this is where the last time a Leopard was sighted in the UAE, many years ago. This area has been and continues to be hiked by many hikers each season. We did this hike in thrice in the last season and thoroughly enjoyed it. This remains our favorite hike in entire UAE due to the beautiful topography of the land. The hike is around 8KM and includes several kilometers of walking with some bouldering. Temperatures are forecasted to sway between 23-34 degrees during the day. Sedans can make it up to 3-4KMs before the starting point of the hike. Drivers and passengers from Sedans will need to move to SUVs to get to the start point. When: October 19th, 2019 @ 7 am we will gather at meeting spot in Dubai and leave together. Beginner Hike - Wadi Naqab - Red Wall

This hike takes you through wadi naqab with its reasonable share of walking and bouldering to end at a a wall like formation of rocks which is called ‘The Red Wall’ due to the color of the rocks. Total distance of the hike: Approximately 11-13KM (around 4+ hours of total walking time at slow/ normal pace with breaks). 4X4s or AWDs with good ground clearance are needed to reach the final location at RAK. if you don’t have one, you will either need to find a ride with a driver who does, or stop a couple of kilometers before the final meeting point and hitch a ride in a 4WD/AWD. When: Saturday October 26, 2019 @ 7am we will leave from central location in Dubai. Participants from Sharjah, RAK, Fujairah etc. will be advised the final meeting point after we leave from Dubai and may drive there directly. Carpool: Will be made available and advised to confirmed participants via WhatsApp group Cost: AED 50/ participant via cash on event day/ paypal to ensure the group remains small and manageable. What to Bring: - Hiking boots/ shoes or trainers with good grip - 2-3 liters of water and/ or electrolytes drink such as Gatorade or DIY Electrolyte tablets - Sunscreen - Hat/ cap - Light snacks - A full stomach along with a good night’s rest For hike to the Red Wall at Wadi Naqab, RAK anyone with basic fitness level who is used to walking for 1 hour at least twice a week should be able to do it. If you’re not used to any kind of physical activity, this hike isn’t for you. Wadi Naqab - Sheri Village Hike (Level: Beginner+)

This hike will be in the Wadi Naqab/ Nakhab area of RAK. Total distance covered will be around 9.5 KM and starts with a walk of about 30 mins on flat surface with some gravel and minor climbing in the beginning, followed by reaching the base of the mountain from where there is a very well defined and steep track leading up to the abandoned Sheri village. There are clear markings and steps to the top and there is no chance of getting lost. On the way to the top, we will pass through a bat cave and you can choose to enter the same, or else just hear them from outside. The track between the mountains is insulated from the sun, so except the first 30 mins of hike, you will not be exposed to the sun except when you reach the top. This hike is being classified as Beginner+ to because of the continuous incline for good 1-1/2 to 2 hours over the track leading to the village. If you have problems with hiking in an inclined position for about 3 to 3-1/2 KM, suffer from lack of stamina, have issues with your knees, low blood pressure etc., please do not signup for this hike. Wadi Shah Hike - Full Loop (Intermediate level)

For all those hardcore outdoor enthusiasts who have a reasonably good fitness level, you’re invited to join us for a hike through the beautiful Wadi Shah in RAK, near Jebel Jais. You need to be able to hike 6-9 hours with breaks and should not have any issues with your knees, low stamina, low blood pressure, or any other health condition. You must have prior hiking experience which is an absolute must. Upon reaching the top we will be able to get a view of Jebel Jais and the surrounding valleys. We will also take a slightly longer break at the top and enjoy a nice cup of tea with caretakers of some old Emirati houses. When: Friday November 15th, we will leave Dubai @ 7am from our central meeting point (Location will be advised to confirmed participants via WhatsApp) Where: Wadi Shah, RAK @ Base of Jebel Jais Total Hiking Time: 6-9 hours with breaks depending on the level of fitness of the group Cost: AED 50 per participant Carpool: Will be made available for those needing a ride What to bring: - Proper hiking boots/ shoes are a must. No sneakers, trainer, trail shoes of any kind are allowed as you don’t want to slip on the rocks while bouldering or in the steep incline/ recline positions - Sunscreen - Hat/ Cap is an absolute must - Snacks/ Lunch - 3-4 liters of water &/ or electrolyte drink - A full stomach with a heavy breakfast - A good night’s rest Do not attempt this hike if you are unable to do a lot of bouldering and hike in an inclined position for at least 2-3 hours. Please be advised that while we usually have several experienced hikers in the group, we do not have any wilderness or first aid certified guides and hence by participating in this hike you fully agree to and indemnify the organizers and other participants of any injuries or exhaustion related hazards that may occur due to the inherent nature of such activities.
