RE-SCHEDULED WASHINGTON CROSSING STATE PARK (NJ) Hike

WASHINGTON CROSSING STATE PARK (NJ) Hike. 6-7 miles. Moderate pace through Titusville and the State Park. Bring lunch. NP. Meet at Wash. Crossing, NJ side, off of Rt. 29 approx. 8 miles north of Trenton. At the Wash. Crossing red light turn left & make an immediate right, before crossing the river, into the parking lot. One potential option, if available, at hike end will be to view a 27 minute movie "Ten Crucial Days", an historical epic of Washington Crossing the Delaware on 12/25/1776 at the Visitor Center Museum. This option would be at an cost of $1.00 each and will be discussed.Leaders, Bill Poulson (8 5 6)[masked] and Joe H (8 5 6)[masked]

The Park Ranger we met was Mike Helbing. He is one of NJ's premier hikers, having recently completed hiking the entire NJ perimeter. You can often catch him on NJ TV. I could never keep up with him, but his hikes are quite interesting to check out /get ideas from. He is metrotrails.org.

Wonderful hike and great to see everyone! I NEVER get to see Bill.

Several of us were talking about Goat Hill, and I just stumbled across a map. Here's the url: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1hFt0Z3kBuuNDRmZThhMDEtNDkxNS00NjBhLWE3OWUtMWI0NGFmOGQyODQx/view. Happy to send the pdf if that doesn't work for some reason.

Unfortunately, nobody phone seemed to work.I got to the main park welcome area 30 min early and was unable to contact anyone by phone.Rangers told me I was where the map showed and that is where people were waiting last week before the rain out.It is unfortunate to drive that many miles and phones listed are either disconnected or someone else has them.
Of the dozens of hikes that I have been on,that was a first.

Though I am not responsible for this miscue , any effort to make contact through meetups would have gone out to anyone attending the hike...and you likely would have received a timely response so you could have made it.. you were only a 5 minute drive from the meet point as described in the hike info.

Sorry to miss everyone. I enjoy this hike, just not in the rain when I have to use a vacation day from work. Ginger, I would give myself more than an hour. There is often commuter traffic en route.

I would share, Paul. I live in Birchfield which lies between Church Street, Union Mill, and Elbo Lane.

Anyone interested,we could meet in the parking lot of Laurel Acres park off of Church St. at 8:00?

      November 28

    • Ginger

My google maps say the hike is less than an hour from Laurel Acres Park? Does that sound right? thanks.

      November 28

  • Heide

Meet at Laurel Acres Park at 8:00.

The leaders usually have a good reason for including the NP code.

    November 27

  • Jerry G.

The NP code in the write up indicates no pets.

  • jane p.

I prefer no pets on club hikes. I'm not the leader just a hiker. People first then pets (I've had many pets). Pet clubs for pets, and people clubs for people. No offense intended:)

Any folks considering sharing a ride from Mt.Laurel area?

    November 27

  • Carol H.

May I ask, can I bring my dog she is well behaved likes people. Her and I have used this trail before, but I would enjoy it more with a group. Again thought I ask
