WILDERNESS SURVIVAL

Ever watch those survival shows on TV and wanted to learn some of the skills they do? 

Do you spend a lot of times in the outdoors?

Are you getting ready for the Fall Hunting Season?

If so, this is the meetup for you

This course will teach you the skills that can help keep you alive

We will cover:

 - priorities of survival
 - signaling using various means, including international distress signal
 - water collection using improvised containers, including transpiration techniques
 - water purification using various means including improvised methods
 - emergency shelters and locations
 - firemaking, both modern and primitive
 - making cordage from plants
 - making soap from plants
 - medicinal uses of plants
 - components of a kit

... and more!

This class will be hands on and will test your abilities to improvise, adapt, and overcome.

What To Bring

 - comfortable hiking shoes... We will be doing stream crossings
 - water
 - snacks
 - pocket knife is recommended for some of the skills you will be doing
 - notebook
 - willingness to participate 

If you have gear that you would like to try and evaluate bring it along. This is the perfect opportunity to test it. It's better to learn what works and doesn't work in a controlled environment

Alan has been teaching survival for over twenty years and has traveled the country teaching everyone from civilian to government personnel. He's a former field editor for an outdoor magazine (now defunct) and has numerous articles published on outdoor survival and self-reliance. He holds the record for getting a coal with the handdrill at 2 seconds.
