Meet at 1:45 PM, but leave at 2 PM from the parking lot. We'll hike to Eagle Rock. It is a 4 -5 miles hike RT and[masked] feet elevation gain. It is a moderate hike. It isn't for beginners unless they are in good shape. We'll stop at Eagle Rock to take a break/eat.
Later in April, we'll hike to Parker Mesa--that has a beautiful view of the ocean.
What is neat about this hike is that it is in Topanga Canyon. If you've never drove through it, you'll discovery a neat part of LA you've never knew existed.
Two miles from Trippet is Eagle Junction, where hikers encounter the Eagle Spring loop trail. Eagle Rock, one of the many boulder outcrops on the trail, looms over the terrain and provides panoramic views of the park. At the eastern end of the Eagle Spring loop, hikers will come to the Hub Junction and the Temescal Fire Road.
Please note that dogs are not allowed on the park trails, fire roads, or in the back country. Bummer.
Parking is $10. You'll have to park outside the park if you don't want to pay. You'll have to park on side of the road.
Bring water and sneakers.
