This hike has cool rock formations and some caves.
Meet a 4 PM in the parking lot. Leave at 4:15 PM. Bring water, sunscreen, sweater (coming back around sunset), hat, etc. It may be hot--no shade. We're NOT hiking the whole trail--just most of it.
Length: 5 miles RT. Elevation Change 1,000 ft.
This is a trail going from Simi Valley to Rocky Peak Trail on the ridgeline between Simi and San Fernando Valleys. Halfway up to Rocky Peak Trail, the trail passes several small caves. The longest cave is over 100 feet long. Just down the Rocky Peak Trail from the junction is the Rock House, a small room built under a rock overhang.
Directions: From the San Fernando Valley, head west on the 118 Freeway and exit at Rocky Peak Road. Park on the north side of the off-ramp. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE BRIDGE or in front of the gate.
From Simi Valley, head east on the 118 and exit at Kuehner Drive. Go right (south) on Kuehner until it becomes Santa Susana pass Road. Follow it east to the top of the pass and the parking area.
