Hike Description: The first 1/4 mile will get us to the Los Pinetos Trailhead. The next mile will be the HARDEST with an elevation gain of 700 feet. The 2nd mile takes us just about to the top, but only has an elevation gain of a bit more than 400 feet. This is favorite part because it's somewhat forest like with most of the trail covered by trees with the only drawback being there can be an abundance of gnats in this area for some reason.
This hike has limited parking. You'll have to park on along a road.
Not for beginners or newbies, but if you're willing to give it a shot it's basically and out and back trail so you could just turn around and head back down.
As always know your limits, bring ample quantities of water, a hat and sunscreen, good hiking shoes. Walking sticks would be helpful in certain areas and dogs, friendly, leashed and picked up after would be fine on this one.
Directions: I-5 to Highway 14 and exit at Placerita Canyon Road. The Walker Ranch Trailhead is about 3.5 miles from the 14 on the south side of the road. You will go past the Placerita Nature Center on your way there. It's an obvious parking area well marked with a closed white gate. It's maybe 2 miles past the Nature Center entrance. There is a tiny free parking lot at the trailhead, or you can park for free along Placerita Cyn road, but make sure you pull off the road.
