Located on the summit of Mt Wilson above Pasadena at an altitude of 5715 feet, the Observatory is visible from much of the Los Angeles area. Visitors can view the historic Hooker 100-inch telescope from the visitor Gallery dome. those purchasing tickets for the 1:00 pm weekend guided tour are admitted to the telescope floor beneath the 100-inch telescope.
Tour tickets are $10.00 cash that are purchased at the Cosmic Café. We will meet at 12:45 pm to purchase tour tickets for the 1:00 pm tour. This will be a 2 hour tour.
This is a regular tour for the public.
Please bring daypack with water, sweater and jacket and walking shoes. Weather can change quickly.

ALSO, I FOUND OUT THAT YOU WILL NEED A ADVENTURE PASS TO PARK AT THE OBSERVATORY PARKING LOT. YOU CAN BUY ONE AT THE FOLLOWING PLACES: REI, SPORT CHEALET, COMO CAFE ON MT WILSON AND THERE IS A KIOSK AT THE JUNCTION OF THE ANGELES CREST HWY AND THE ANGELES FOREST HWY, THAT IS OPEN ON WEEKENDS AND YOU CAN BUY AN ADVENTURE PASS THERE. IF YOU BUY IT AT THE COSMO CAFE, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY CASH.
HERE IS THE DIRECTIONS FROM THE 210 FWY.
EXIT THE 210 FWY GETTING OFF IN LA CANADA -FLINTRIDGE.
LOOK FOR SIGNS THAT SAYS LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE/ ANGELES CREST HWY. GET OFF HERE AND HEAD NORTH ON THE ANGELES CREST 14 MILES.
LOOK FOR MT WILSON-REDBOX RD. YOU NOW WILL MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND TAKE IT ALL THE WAY UNTIL IT ENDS AT THE MT WILSON PARKING LOT.
I WILL TAKE ABOUT 40 MINUTES TO GET FROM THE JUNCTION OF THE 210 AND THE ANGELES HWY TO THE MT WILSON PARKING LOT.
PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME.
IF ANY OF YOU WHO HAS NEVER BEEN HEAR BEFORE AND WOULD LIKE TO MEET ME AT THE START OF THE ANGELES CREST HWY LET ME KNOW.
THAT WAY WE COULD GO UP TOGETHER AND NO ONE GETS LOST.
