Wilson trail is a Easy trail to explore in the North East corner of the San Fernando Valley.
There are several loop options. The one I intend to do is going to be approximately 2 miles. From the parking area, it starts as a dirt path up the side of the mountain and goes up, approx[masked] or so elevation. There are some shady areas and some sunny areas. Then when you get to the top you see a pretty view of the valley bellow. Coming down is easy. You're pretty much on a dirt road that's wide open, very sunny, and gradual sloping downwards (see photo above). It ends on a paved road, and we take the paved road to where the cars are parked.
There are lots of flowers, butterflies, bees, very pretty and easy to take lots of great photos.
It's a pretty EASY hike, a little steep at times, but we can stop, take a breath, I am not rushing this one.
Please note there is SOME shade going up but coming down is all open sun. Bring your hat, sunblock, sunbrella, water, etc.
There is a $5 CASH fee to park and it's in an honor system. You pay at the bottom entrance to the park, off of Olive View Dr. If you guys want, you can drive to the neighborhood and park some carpool into the park, take up 1 or 2 cars, but I do suggest you drive (NOT WALK) into the park because it's quite a bit up from the neighborhood, and not an easy walk.
Once you drive into the park, the road will split into a T, turn LEFT. There will be another fork, keep RIGHT. Parking is at end of road close to trail start. We will be close to the parking area.
I cannot recall, but do not think there are any bathroom or water facilities in the park, but there is a gas station down Olive View Rd near the 210 that will probably let you use their facilities.
I realize this is NOT a lot of notice for the event, so if the event turnout is LOW I might have to CANCEL and re-SCHEDULE the event. Please Contact me if you have any questions. I'll be checking my messages the day before and the day of. If you need my number let me know.
Also, I'm starting early due to potential HEAT WAVE, if forecast predicts temps in the 100's I'lll have to reschedule the hike.
HOWEVER, Cell phone service in the park is POOR so if you're trying to find us and cannot reach us, it is likely the reception.
