NOTE: NEW CLASS IV FOR MONDAY ADDED
Let's have some fun this Memorial Day weekend! On this trip we'll split into two groups to go whitewater rafting. The Class III group will do a beginner-friendly run down rapids up to class III for one hour. The Class IV group will do an intermediate run down rapids up to class IV for 3.5 - 4.5 hours (wetsuit required). First-timers will be fine doing the class IV run and are welcome to join this group if interested. We'll also have hiking (to a cavewith stalactites!), Giant Trees, campfire marshmallow roasting & Smores, and group games like catchphrase and twister. We'll be able to see and hear the river from our camping area. We had so much fun before that I can't wait to get back up there! This trip is all about having a good time and meeting fun people, so think of everyone on this trip as a new friend.
Kids must be at least 10 years old and 50 lbs. Sorry, no dogs for this event. The drive will take 3.5 hours from LA + traffic.
Note: The hot springs are currently under water. So, this trip will feature a new camping area next to the river and next to porta-potties, as well as a visit to the Giant Trees and a cave hike.

Trip fee includes rafting, firewood, campfire permit + water buckets & safety shovel, marshmallows & Smores + roasting sticks, detailed trip itinerary handout + customized map, camp table, deluxe hand washing & restroom station, trash & recycle stations, dry erase board, shade tent, extra camp chairs and benches, and wrist band.
I can do refunds until Friday May 20th at 10pm. Afterwards, you'll need to find a replacement.
For this trip we'll be camping in a "dispersed" area, not in a "developed" fee-based campground. This means we'll be camping wherever we feel like pitching our tents. Yes there will be a porta-pottie nearby. I'll also have a deluxe hand-washing station set up at our camp. Quiet time will be from 12:00am to 8:30am.
Rafting will be on Sunday (NEW CLASS IV ADDED FOR MONDAY). No sandals or bare feet will be permitted. You'll need a second pair of shoes to get wet ($15 water shoes are great). Life jackets & helmets are provided. Wet suits are required for the class IV half day run and can be rented for $19. Wet suits are not required for the class III run. Leave everything you don't want to get wet in your car. If you have a good time please tip the guides.
Eat dinner on your way up Fri night. Bring food for breakfast and lunch on Sat & breakfast on Sun. We'll be eating out for an early dinner on Saturday. There are restaurants and markets in Riverkern & Kernville.
----WHAT TO BRING----

Craig Amai (http://www.meetup.com/SoCal-Young-Adventure-Seekers/members/14315639/) I had an amazing time. Every single person there was crazy positive, friendly, and fun. David planned a great campsite, hike, and rafting trip. The mountains and river were a nice mix of gorgeous and comfortable this time of year.
