THE FRYMAN CANYON HIKE, known alternatively as the Lower Fryman Canyon Loop or the Betty B. Dearing Trail, is a 3 mile easy/moderate city-hike located in Studio City in the San Fernando Valley.

It takes about 1.5 hours to 2 hours total and will be going through Coldwater Canyon Park. There is a decent workout elevation gain of about 725 feet. PLEASE NOTE: We will be hiking at 11:00 midday, mostly in direct sunlight. Bring a water bottle (at least one quart recommended) and be prepared to either get a sun tan or wear protective clothing!

If you are bringing your dog, please keep your pet on a leash at all times! Be prepared to clean up after your dog!

Map and Directions: The focal point for the hike is the parking lot at the corner of Laurel Canyon Blvd. and Fryman Rd, which is a few blocks south of Ventura Blvd. The parking lot is on the west side of Laurel Canyon Blvd. There is a $3 fee to park in the lot, which is frequently full. You can also park on Laurel Canyon Bvd, and on side streets to the north and west such as Laurel Terrace Dr and Mound View Ave. All of these locations are busy with hiker's cars, especially on the weekends.

If you would like to park in the lot, make sure you bring either cash for the $3 parking fee or a checkbook and a pen. There is a machine that sells parking permits (exact change only, bring extra crisp dollar bills because the scanner gets finicky sometimes) and there is a deposit box that also takes envelopes with the fees inside them (cash or check).

After you have paid for your parking permit and placed it on your car, walk back to the entrance of the parking lot, the start of the trail is near here.

We will start the hike at 11:00PM exactly at the trailhead. We are going to meet just on the other side of the "Betty B. Dearing" sign maybe 20 or 30 yards just up the path.

SEE YOU THERE!
