Hi Bob, I would love to do this paddle, however, I will be out of town this weekend. Believe mr though I will be remembering this day with a heavy heart in honor of those that have fallen.
I hope you have a nice turnout for ghis paddle as it is extra special. Thank you and God Speed to all!!

Pardon any typos this was sent from my iPhone.

It will be a decade.  Hard to believe, but in schools it is already being studied as a point in our history.  I felt a bit older hearing that one......

There will be many events in the metro area to honor the fallen from that pivotal date, as well as a memorial for all the military men and women who gave their lives since that date.

In the Washington, D.C. area, many activities are planned around the Potomac River.  There is a reason it is called the People's River.  And, yes, security will be very tight.

The Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin is doing a special tri-state canoe and kayak paddle from Dam Number Four to Shepherdstown on September 11th.  I am helping them out on the logistics for that paddle, but I told them I would not join them on the trip as I want to do my own trip.  September 11th is also a full moon date.  Traditionally, on the river, it is the end of our warm water paddling season.

I would like us to have an organized paddle on the Potomac River on September 11th as well.  September 11th is a Sunday.  We could do a daytime paddle on the 11th or a full moon paddle on the 10th, thus allowing us to be on the river on September 11th.

Let me know your thoughts, or feel free to ask questions particularly if you are new to paddling.  I don't want this to be a discussion item especially if a newbie is hesitant to ask a question where all can see it.  Write to me directly if you will.  Once I get a feel for either a day paddle on Sunday or a night paddle on Saturday, I will post it.

And whatever you decide to do on the 10-year anniversary of that terrible date, let us nonetheless continue to remain observant of what the men and women in our military offered and gave for us, and help out the wounded, the survivors, and the family members left behind.
