November 6, 2012 Dear Library Customer: You are cordially invited to a free documentary showing and brief program about the tragedy of the Holocaust at 6:15 p.m., November 14, at the UltraStar Surprise Point 14 Cinemas. UltraStar Surprise Cinemas are located at 13649 N. Litchfield Rd., Surprise, AZ 85374. The program, “They Suddenly Vanished and the World Said Nothing,” includes excerpts from the nine-hour documentary, Shoah, A History of the Holocaust, directed by Charles Lanzmann. The film brings to light personal human stories of the Holocaust, both from the side of the surviving victims and the perpetrators. Shoah is a powerful drama of oral history, recounted in the graphic, haunting words of survivors, soldiers and historians. Those interviewed provide authentic testimony of the fright, horrors, struggles and despair they witnessed and endured during the reign of Hitler. Following the program, an online forum will be opened for community conversation at mcldconnect.org/forum.
