It's time for... The Christmas Party! (joint with the Oxford Writing Circle)

  • December 3 · 7:00 PM

Hello bookish friends!

The time has come. Nights are getting longer, the frost (/ rain) is starting to settle and all the shops have tantalisingly glittery things in the window. It's time for...

The Christmas Party!!!

This year we are the cat to the Oxford Writing Circle's robotic vacuum cleaner (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Of2HU3LGdbo) and will be gaily jumping on their backs wearing a shark costume. By which I mean, we will be joining their party! So, rather than rewrite it (they are, after all, masters of the writing craft), please find below all the information:

"Merry Christmas, one and all.

"It's time for our annual Xmas party and this year we're sporting a Dickensian Victorian theme, with games, secret Santa, fancy dress, literary beverages, and prizes to be won.

"For the fancy dress, think Dickens' Christmas Carol for inspiration. There will be a very special prize for the evening's best.

"We will be playing a literary version of the 'name in a hat game', guessing the names of famous authors and characters in a series of increasingly difficult rounds.

"There will also be Secret Santa. All you need to do is bring along a book you admire to be gifted to another member of the party at some point during the evening. It can be second hand (from your own shelf / a charity book shop) or new. Just make sure you wrap it to keep it a surprise.

"To help us cover the costs for the evening (room rent, literary punch, and so on), there is a small fee of £5pp on the door, £4.50 in advance. Please book your tickets in advance here: www.eventbrite.com/e/a-dickensian-christmas-party-tickets[masked]"

Spots are limited, so make sure you book as soon as possible so you're not disappointed!
