We enjoy being outdoors and walking in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. We organise a walk pretty much every weekend throughout the year.
We also organise at least three weekends away in more mountainous parts of the country. Last year we went on weekends away to Snowdonia, the Lake District, the Forest of Dean and Exmoor. We also sometimes organise longer trips too. Last summer we went away to complete the 90 mile West Highland Way over seven days and the summer before that we went to Kitzbühel in Austria.
We have around a hundred members who enjoy walking and socialising. Almost all of our walks end at the pub and we also organise regular monthly socials in Oxford and surrounding towns - we go for meals and pub trips as well as things like comedy, cycle tours and the theatre.
Sometimes we run joint walks with 20s&30s groups from other counties, or the Oxfordshire Weekend Walkers whose target membership age band follows on from our group's.
Please note the following:
We advertise our walks in a number of places and you will typically find a good sized group of 10 to 15 other walkers on each walk in addition to those you see on meetup.
You will recognise us as we really do look like Ramblers (only younger) and anyone there can confirm.
The organiser identified on Meetup is usually different from the actual walk leader. The majority of our walk leaders are not members of Meetup, please see the description of the walk for name and contact details.
In terms of what you need to bring, normally a packed lunch and water, as well as trainers or walking shoes you don't mind getting muddy.
