What we're about

SSVC is a chapter of Potomac Appalachian Trail Club based in the Southern Shenandoah Valley. Many of our members are from the Harrisonburg-Staunton-Waynesboro area. We hike several weekends each month. We also occasionally offer hikes during the week. Most of our hikes are in the George Washington National Forest or Shenandoah National Park.

Our chapter maintains a 2-mile section of the Appalachian Trail in the Southern Section of Shenandoah National Park (SNP). We also have a group that works on Shenandoah Mountain trails in the George Washington National Forest (GWNF). In addition, several of our members have adopted trails in SNP, Massanuettten and in the GWNF. Our tradition is to help each other on our adopted trails.

When participating in a hike, bring a lunch/snack, water and sturdy shoes. No dogs please.
