Happy February, everyone! This month we'll be having an introductory talk by our very own Rob Norris, titled Scala Safari. A sneak-peak: "Scala is a Java-like language with flexible syntax, expressive types, and facilities for both object-oriented and functional programming. In this talk we are going to skip the boring stuff and hunt for exotic features that make Scala interesting and might make you think a little differently about the adventure of programming. No knowledge of Scala is expected." This will be an excellent talk if you are just getting into the world of Scala, and the perfect opportunity for more of the seasoned users to bring some of your colleagues and friends that would enjoy an introduction to the language. Doors will open and we'll start hanging out around 6pm, with introductions, announcements, and the talk starting right around 6:30. We'll have pizza and beverages, so come with an appetite. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, and hoping we'll see a few new faces as well! Thanks, and see you all next week. Andrew
