Do we need saving?

If so, from what do we need saving from? And what is it that needed to be saved?

We are probably familiar with the Christian perspective that we need to be saved from sin. But what is sin?

According to the bible “All wrongdoing is sin”. The Bible defines wrongdoing as breaking God's moral law summarized in the Ten Commandments. Everyone who sins breaks the law. Sin is lawlessness. So we need to be saved from sin—wrongdoing, violating God's commandments.

From the perspective of Advaita and Buddhism it is said we need saving from our own ignorance or illusion of our true nature. This ignorance leads to suffering, and our salvation is achieved by giving up attachments to desires, which leads to self realization.

So do we need saving from ourselves- our ignorance of who and what we really are, and our relationship to each other and the world we live in.

As the human race we appear to be very arrogant and ignorant of each other’s needs and what we are doing to our home. Does the world need saving from us?

If this interests you then take time out from your usual Sunday afternoon
and spend a couple of hours in the company of other kindred spirits.

Entry is free, just pay for your own refreshments.

Just read Richard Dawkins. I agree with him totally - so that should get us started!
