What we're about

I want to create a network of support and community for age-out foster care youth and post-care adults up to 26 years of age, particularly those in the LGBTQIA population. These populations are and have always been at higher risk and consistently need some of the most direct help. However, sexual orientation alone will not dictate if a person receives help.

The ultimate goal is to create a non-profit that collect funds for allocation to needs of struggling LGBTQIA foster care persons ages 16-26. Supporting members of this group do not need to be in this population, may be older and don't need to be current or previous foster care recipients. Once a non-profit is established, funds collected will be for, but not limited to: uncovered insurance co-pays, counseling, necessary items upon application and/or a pantry, rental deposit fees, legal counsel, drug rehabilitation, emergencies, clothing, counseling, weekly events, education/employment services, scholarships, group activities, and operational costs.

A youth outreach group will be established with proper policy and events appropriately staffed under Arizona guidelines concerning vulnerable populations, likely create some kind of mentorship program hopefully in tandem with local college social work programs.

Planning meetings will occur so we can develop a board, as that's necessary for a 501(C)3. Please join and share ideas, experience, and suggestions for development. If you've been on a non-profit board before or are currently, please do speak up!
