Personal trauma stories aside, we are left with figuring out how to move forward in life. Asking ourselves questions like: Who am I now? How do I deal with the ongoing mental trauma? Am I healing and progressing from being alive to really living life? Is this life kicking me in the butt or what life with PTSD is like? Who can I talk to? Who can I tell and when? What will help? Do I need help?
Hearing what is working for other survivors is a great way to introduce new ideas and incorporate them into your life.
A little about me:
August 2018, I survived multiple gunshot wounds while protecting a friend and attempting to fight off a home invader. The shooter was a neighbor that broke in previously, June 2018, while my daughter was home alone hiding in the bathroom. We'd just moved into this house 4 weeks prior to the time of the first break in. As a recent survivor and a single parent, putting myself back together has been a top priority. I have learned a lot and made great progress, but I'd like to be further along in my recovery than I am currently.
