Paddleboard Palm Beach County

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE MEEUP DESCRIPTION:
We will launch from Bert Winters Park and paddle into the mangrove lined waterways of the Juno Dunes Natural Area. The local eco-systems at Juno Dunes Natural Area once dominated the coastal areas of Florida. It is the largest remaining tract of Atlantic Ridge Scrub habitat left in Palm Beach County. We also paddle through some canals with some very nice homes on the way back.

1. Who should come? Any one is an intermediate paddler or stronger. No First Time Paddlers or paddlers who paddle very infrequently or can't keep up with a group. No Exceptions. Any one who wants to learn how to paddleboard should join our Fabulous First Timer meetups usually on Saturday mornings. Got Qs about joining this event? Text me at 561.260.2628.
2. How to secure your spot: RSVP for this event (even if you have your own board). If you need to rent a paddleboard; the cost of the rental is $30 paid via Venmo or Zelle at least one day in advance. If you have your own board, it's $10 per person by event day. For Venmo; use @vivian-caylor & include the event date. For Zelle, the phone number is 561.260.2628 & inc the event date. If you have a credit card or other questions, please text me at 561.260.2628.
3. When: Arrive at the start time listed above so we can get your equipment fitted if you are renting. If you have an inflatable board, please arrive early enough to inflate your board and be ready to go.
4. Where: Carefully read 'How to find us' section. Check GPS the night before so you know how long it takes to get to the launch location.
5. What to do if the weather is questionable? I check multiple detailed weather and radar forecasts. I will cancel the event by 6am if the forecasted wind is too strong OR if there is a strong chance of lightning based on forecasted thunderstorms heading our way during the event. If I don't cancel the event on Meetup; then the event will take place. If I cancel the event due to weather or whatever, you will be refunded (text me for a Zelle refund as your phone number is needed). You can also use the payment for the next time you paddle (LMK). We do have a 24 hr cancellation rental refund policy for no-shows or those who cancel event day. If you're ready to try stand up paddle boarding but haven't had the opportunity yet, come on out! We'll supply the equipment. You just need to show up with your sense of adventure, have some fun and get a nice workout at the same time! You'll get a detailed lesson given by a certified instructor who has taught over 6,000 people how to paddleboard since 2013. After everyone gets comfortable on the paddleboards, we'll explore the area around Sawfish Bay Park with an eco-tour guide who is a certified Florida Master Naturalist.

1. Who should come? Any one who wants to learn how the basic skills needed to stand up paddle board in a safe, flat water environment. Wondering if you can do it? If you can stand (and also kneel), you can successfully standup paddleboard. :) Got medical issues? More questions? Contact me via text at 561.260.2628. Already know how to paddle? Come join us! We always have some regular paddlers that come out to join us.

4. What should you bring? Other than your sense of fun and adventure, you need to wear clothes that you can get wet in. Most folks don't fall into the water but it's a watersport so it's OK to get wet. :) It's advisable to bring sun screen, bug spray, inexpensive sunglasses, a hat that you can get wet and will stay on your head easily, water to drink and maybe a snack if you think you might need it. Bring watershoes or flipflops to wear before we get on the boards. The launch has gravel and usually folks don't like walking on gravel.

This a new paddle from the North Causeway Island Park. We're going island hopping as we head north. We'll go as far as we want and head back. This whole area is a great place to paddle & explore the Real Florida. WE'RE NOT MEETING AT LITTLE JIM'S FOR THIS PADDLE. We'll be meeting at the North Causeway Island Park. Due to the direction of the tide, we'll paddle north of the bridge and continue our exploration of this awesome natural area. Look for my large white van. Afterwards let's try something different and go to the Islamorada Brewery just a little bit north and west of Fed Hwy 1. I'm setting up a separate meetup for those who may want to check it out but maybe can't paddle that morning.
